The Commissioning Board
![]() | The Commissioning Board help to guide the work of the SDO programme to ensure that it produces high quality research that addresses the needs of the NHS. Members of the Commissioning Board play a key role in meeting the challenge of commissioning high quality research relevant to NHS needs. The Board will recommend those applications which have robust, valid methods and sensible resourcing, and hence are likely to answer their research questions successfully in a timely and efficient way. |
Proposals are assessed according to:
- adherence to the advertised commissioning brief
- quality of scientific merit
- researcher liaison with knowledge users and integration of knowledge users into the knowledge production process
- value for money
Recommendations from the Commissioning Board will be considered by the Programme Executive Group (PEG), which is chaired by the Programme Director and includes the chairs of the three advisory panels: Priority Areas Panel, SDO Studies Panel and the NHS Evaluations Panel.
