Project outputs

We encourage research teams to disseminate their findings widely and to a broad range of audiences. We do, however, require research teams to inform us about all project outputs: written, audio/visual and electronic. The term output is an umbrella term which includes but is not limited to the final report; journal article; press release; media interview;conference abstract or presentation; dissemination event for research participants or newsletter.
This is not to suppress or alter your plans for publication, but it is important that we make the Department of Health aware, in advance, of published material. This is to allow time for the SDO Communications team and the Department of Health's press officers to prepare for any implications the output might have on government policy in this area.
In addition, the SDO programme may wish to undertake wider communications activity surrounding a particular output.
Acknowledgements and disclaimers
It is important that the SDO programme is acknowledged as the funding source for the research it commissions. All outputs must contain an acknowledgement of funding and an appropriate disclaimer. Research teams are free to design their own forms of acknowledgement. The following templates are offered for consideration:
SDO Funding Acknowledgement:
This project was funded by the National Institute for Health Research Service Delivery and Organisation programme (project number xx/xxxx/xxx).
Department of Health Disclaimer:
The views and opinions expressed therein are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect those of the SDO programme, NIHR,NHS or the Department of Health.
Output notification form
Please complete an output notification form for each output and provide us with a copy of the output at the time of submission or at least 28 days before the publication date, whichever is earlier.
Output Notification Form (PDF, 510KB)
If you are unable to provide us with the full final version of the output at the time of submitting the notification form we would be grateful if you could forward this to us as soon as this becomes available.
