New funding opportunities with the SDO programme
News release from NETSCC, SDO
25 June 2009
Two calls for proposals were launched by the NIHR SDO programme today under the new NETSCC, SDO secretariat. As part of the new commissioning structure, the programme has opened its first calls under the new SDO Studies Panel and the Priority Areas Panel.
The SDO Studies Panel gives the academic community the opportunity to respond to an open call for proposals and to identify research questions aimed at addressing those gaps in knowledge. Call SDO1001 is the first researcher-led call from the programme under this panel and is seeking proposals for follow-on empirical studies, evidence synthesis, and scoping reviews for future research needs.
The Priority Areas Panel will help meet the challenge of commissioning high quality research relevant to the needs of the NHS. The intention of the KM259 call is to enhance the evidence base on research utilisation and knowledge mobilisation by healthcare managers; to improve the effectiveness of managerial behaviour and decision-making through better use of relevant research; and to promote increased involvement between the academic community of researchers and the practice community of healthcare managers.
Should applicants have questions relating to either call, they are being invited to submit these via email to the SDO Commissioning team by Tuesday 14 July. A question and answer section based on these queries we will be posted on the website on 28 July 2009. Applicants may find this helpful in preparing their proposal.
Applicants are asked to submit outline proposals for the above calls by Thursday 20 August 2009 at 1pm. Please note that applications received after this deadline will not be considered. Proposals for KM259 will be considered by the Priority Areas Panel and proposals for SDO1001 will be considered by the SDO Studies Panel, both meeting in September.
Please note that this call is now closed
