Freedom of information
The NETSSCC, SDO is based in the School of Medicine at the University of Southampton and manages the SDO programme on behalf of the Department of Health. As such the programme's outputs and research findings are incorporated into the DH Freedom of Information publication scheme.Publication scheme
The NETSCC, SDO makes information available to the public in electronic and printed form as follows:
Electronically on the SDO website
- Full details and full text versions of all the published work of the programme. These files can be viewed or downloaded free of charge for personal use or private study.
- Pages explaining how the programme works
- The project costs and details of all contracts awarded under the SDO programme.
- Outputs of all published work of the programme (excluding some appendices) are to download free of charge.
Information not covered by the publication scheme
From 1 January 2005 information not made available through the publication scheme may be requested. Requests should be made in writing to:

The NETSCC, SDO will normally have 20 working days to respond. Within this time frame the NETSCC, SDO will confirm or deny in writing whether it holds the requested information and, subject to exemptions, will communicate this information to the enquirer.
Information subject to an exemption in the Act will not be released. A fee may be charged.
Complaints and appeals
If you are not satisfied with the way we have handled your request or with the reasons we have given for refusing to provide information, you have the right to appeal. Please see the complaints section on the NETSCC website. The Information Commissioner is responsible for enforcing the operation of the scheme and you may appeal direct to him at any time at data@dataprotection.gov.uk
