Call 10/1007: Patient safety in healthcare organisations

 

Ensuring the safety of everyone who comes into contact with health services is one of the most important challenges facing health care today.    

It is estimated that one in ten patients who receive health care will suffer from preventable harm.  850,000 adverse events are thought to occur in UK hospitals each year. 

The SDO programme wishes to commission research on aspects of patient safety particularly relating to organisational environments, structures, systems and cultures, consistent with the mission and focus of the SDO programme. The programme is interested in proposals for research into the following topic areas:
